About
Following the successful ‘Chain Reaction’ Project – produced by Roundel Poets in Tonbridge – which culminated in a book and an exhibition, a few of us in Tunbridge Wells thought it might be exciting to play with this idea and include local poets, photographers and artists who all want to inspire and be inspired by each other.
The Initial Brief: “Where are you from?”
The reason we chose this was because it was fairly loose but also potentially moving and complex. You might write/photograph/paint anything from your parents, a landscape or a DNA spiral. The trick is to let each thought move from one to the other.
Our basic idea is that we start with a photograph – which inspires a poem – which inspires an art piece, which then inspires a poem – which leads back to a photograph. This is why we used the working title ‘Fractals”.
There are excellent examples of poetry being inspired by art e.g. W.H.Auden’s Musee des Beaux Arts (1938). This was inspired by the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1558. Famous artist David Hockney is another inspired by poets.
Can’t wait to hear more and see exhibition too
